Contribution Guidelines

We provide Lessons in what we call “Notebooks”. Each Notebook is made up of 3 components.

  1. Notebook Overview
  2. Notebook Chapters
  3. Quiz Content

1. Notebook Overview

The Notebook Overview is publicly accessible to everyone on the site. This page includes the Notebook Title, Notebook Trailer video, a brief description and a list of included Chapters each with their own description.

Notebook Title:
This is the title of your course, or "Notebook" as we call it. This will appear on the Notebook directory and on the Certificate the user achieves upon completing all of the Chapters and Quizzes. Please make sure your title is brief but unique and descriptive enough in order to avoid potential confusion with other lessons.

Notebook Trailer:
This video should let the user know what topics will be covered in the coming Chapters.

Notebook Description:
A brief paragraph about the content that will be covered in this Notebook.

Chapter List:
A list of all Chapters contained within this Notebook along with a one or two sentence description of what's covered in each.

2. Notebook Chapters

The meat that makes up the Notebook are the Chapters. This is essentially the lessons that make up the course. Chapters are only available to subscribers of the site. Each Chapter has it's own page consisting of a title, video lesson, short description and a Quiz. The quiz must be passed in order to mark that Chapter as complete and earn progress towards the associated Certificate. A good number of chapters is between 4-8.

Chapter Title
This is the title of your Chapter. It will be displayed on the Notebook Page and in various Chapter lists. It's important that your chapter title is short, but concise as to avoid confusion with other Chapters in other Notebooks. (Examples of bad titles: Workflow, Getting Started, Microphones)

Video Lesson
This is the actual lesson. Here you will share your knowledge with the user. Try to avoid cramming too many topics in a single video. Spread the content across multiple Chapters if needed.

Description
Similar to the Notebook Description, this is a short paragraph explaining what the lesson will be about.

Quiz
Each Chapter ends with a Quiz. See below for more information on Quiz Content.

3. Quiz Content

Each Chapter is concluded with a short 3-4 question multiple choice Quiz. The Quiz should be about information covered in the video the user just finished watching. Upon completing the Quiz successfully the Chapter is marked as complete. When all Chapters are marked as complete, the user earns a Certificate proving that they have successfully completed the Notebook. It is encouraged to have some fun with the questions and answers in your Quizzes, but do attempt to keep them on topic.

We hope the above guidelines will help you in creating the highest quality content for technotes.tv. To get started please download and fill out our Notebook Outline Template and send it to [email protected]. If approved we will contact you further with instructions on how to proceed.

Tips:

  • If your Notebook requires specialized equipment or locations, having these secured in advance will help in your approval process.
  • Try not to cram too many topics into one chapter. A healthy chapter count increases the amount of content on the site and therefore increases the value for the user.
  • Light humour is encouraged, but please be sure to keep it clean and inoffensive.
